Operation Rudolf 2009 better than ever!
Saturday December 19th will see Operation Rudolf pass along the Northern Beaches taking Santa Claus to Palm Cove.
Along the way the Convoy will be stopping at various beaches to hand out lollies and let Santa Talk to goodies.
There will be two convoys that will be joining up and separating for the event, one is Green Group doing the Beaches and Red Group Brinsmead, Freshwater, Redlynch& Smithfield.
BOTH GROUPS RED & GREEN
Depart Cairns Regional Council Chambers at1600hr (4PM).
Cairns Esplanade: 1605hr a Brief Stop.
Aeroglen: 1625hr Convoy is to split into 2 Groups Red to Visit Redlynch, Brinsmead, Freshwater, Caravonica & Smithfield. Green Group will proceed along the old route so no one misses out
GREEN CONVOY
Cairns Northern Beaches
Machans Beach: 1640hr the best location will be along the Machans Beach Road and the beachfront itself.
Holloways Beach: 1650hr Best location will be along the road in and at the stop at Casuarina Drive on the beachfront.
Yorkeys Knob: 1710hr Varley Street will be good as the Convoy passes in and out with 2 stops, one at the Boat Club and the other Varley street when the convoy is leaving.
Smithfield: 1730hr opposite Atlas Close on Cumberland Street.
Campus Shopping Centre: 1750hr Green Convoy will be arriving at around 1730hr / 5:30pm and will meet with Red Convoy at this location. This will give you a chance to inspect the vehicles when they take advantage of a short break.
RED GROUP
Freshwater:1635 stop Freshwater Shops at Kamerunga Road.
Brinsmead: 1650 Loriden Drive at Wills Street Bus Stop.
Redlynch: 1710 At Redlynch Shopping Centre. Convoy will circle the shopping centre
Redlynch: 1715 STOP in front of IGA Redlynch
Redlynch: 1730 Flindersea & Eugenia Sts.
Carvonica: 1740 A drive thorough of Yurongi St and then back to Western Arterial Road.
Campus Shopping Centre:
1750hr Red Convoy will be arriving and will meet with Green Convoy at this location at 1800.
RED & GREEN COMBINED
Smithfield: 1810hr Convoy visits the Christmas street of the Northern Beaches, Sidlaw Street.
Trinity Park: 1830 STOP at Trinity Beach Shops Reed & Centaur Streets.
Trinity Beach: 1850 STOP at Trinity Beach School. 1900 Convoy at Beachfront.
Kewarra Beach: STOP 1920 corner of Cottesloe and Poolwood streets.
Clifton Beach: Deadmans Gully 1940
Palm Cove: 2000: Williams Esplanade Palm Cove. Convoy will do 2 circuits so the crowd gets a good look at the convoy. The Convoy then joins the Palm Cove Christmas Carnival on Williams Esplanade, that is on from 4.30pm to 9pm which includes rides for the kids, entertainment, food and much more. The event is an alcohol free event.
Proceeds this year will be going to the ACT for Kids, formally known as theĀ Abused Child Trust.
Follow Rudolf on the Radio
This year you can follow Operation Rudolf 2009 as it moves slowly bringing Christmas cheer.
As in past years you can hear it on radio 4CA,AM ( 846AM). But as well if you have a UHF radio you can listen in on Channel 40 and you will be able to locate and get the latest up to date information on how the convoy is progressing.
So now there are 2 ways to follow Rudolf, with Steve Ahmet on 4CA AM Radio, and if you have a UHF radio listen into Channel 40.
